"There’s no such thing as choice in a heteronormative, racist, patriarchal society. The common preferences that the majority of males and females share is just a conditioned manifestation of cultural norms and values instilled in us from the discriminatory and prejudicial cultural environment we cannot avoid living our lives in. The people around is internalize the messages taught to us by external elements in the society such as the media. So to say that there is “choice” is to cancel out all the powerful socialization agents in our lives, from family to friends to celebrities we hail as role models, since all these aspects of our lives are just reinforcers of ideals meant to uphold the oppressive norms taught to each generation. There is no free choice, just conditioned choice."
